A week of travels
It started Saturday with a long trip to Nominingue to get building materials, mostly electrical wires and insulating panels. We also got a tip to salvage some old blackboards from a Montreal college that we'll turn into floor covering. ALain went to get them on Wednesday : 9 pieces 42"X48" that will complete the 150 sq feet of slate I've been dragging around for the last 10 years.
While he was away, Annie and I dug out the staircase and started bringing rocks inside to build the planter and staircase walls. We can better appreciate the space on the second floor now that the scaffolding and struts are removed. Thursday, it was the thermal glass that was ready for pick up in St-Jerome. We should install them in the next few days but we prefer to wait for Stephan and Manon, the tinsmiths, to help us out this week end. As we learned the hard way last year, installing slanted glass is particularly delicate as far as watertightness is concerned.
Today, we have to take care of the wiring so we'll be able to work on another coat of mud soon. We're starting to feel that fall is at our door. It's surprising to see the temperature difference with Montreal, just an hour away. During the day we reach the same maximums but at night it gets cooler than the city by about 10C (18F).
