A few little things
Actually, considering the size of the windows, installing them is no small thing! Of course, we didn't get to seal everything properly on the first try so we got some leakage on the last big rain storm. It should be about right now. Without the insulation in place it's a lot easier to find and fix so we'll know soon enough. With the brand new flashings, it's all much nicer. We also got the ones for the ventilation turbines but not the time to install them since we're not done laying down the PVC billboards.
The stone walls on each side of the stairway are almost completed and we should pour the ciment for the first three steps and the planter next week. After that, we can get to the floor. I still have to go over the information I collected on the internet in order to decide on the exact technique we'll use. It seems possible to use a mix that is quite dry; you just compact it in successive layers of about one inch and it dries more quickly than we first thought.
We'd also like to do the fourth coat of mud on the second floor to bring it to the same stage as the first floor. We decided to wait for spring to finish the walls... but we did buy some pigments and we'll do tests this winter to find out how to work the lime plaster to obtain a finish we like.
During my stay in Montreal this week, ALain set the tools and started to tongue-and-groove the boards for the ceiling. Something else we can do during the cold season. We should have enough for one of the two ceilings. I hope this winter we'll get some work done since we have more room indoors. If we're really dedicated, maybe we'll have a brand new kitchen!
That's it for now: preparing the presentation for Saturday took me longer than I thought. At least it got me started on selecting some pictures and thinking about the future organization of our website; we still intend to make it easier to consult. It's all very nice to follow things in a chronological order but when you're looking for a specific information, it's not as obvious!
